 Jr. Beta Club

The Ithica Elementary Jr. Beta Club is a part of the National Beta Club. We recognize academic achievement, promote character, develop leadership skills, encourage service involvement, and provide technological advantages to students in 5th grade. Jr. Beta is open to students who had all A’s and no more than two B’s as averages for fourth grade and passed all parts of the CRCT.

During the year as nine week reports come out the sponsor will examine them and coach the students on the requirements to remain in the club. If the student’s grades begin to drop, they will be put on probation and given a chance to correct it. If improvements are not made and the yearly average is not met, they will be dismissed from the club. The Beta Club is not only about grades and academics. It is also about character. One other criterion to be in the club is no office referrals. If at any time a member is referred to the office, the administration is consulted and dismissal my result. We provide a great service to our school, community, and world.

 Ithica Elementary Academic Team

The academic team consists of both fourth and fifth grade students. These students are chosen based on their academic ability and performance. These students have to be able to answer various academic questions quickly. We practice once a week after school to prepare for the rigorous competition. We compete against other elementary schools in our region. The academic team participates in three competitions starting in January and ending in March. The students enjoy the competitions and continue to learn new information.

 Chorus

The Ithica Elementary Chorus is a group of students from fourth and fifth grades. These students audition in order to be a part of this group. We rehearse for an hour each week after school in order to prepare music for special occasions within our school and community. In the past we have performed for Veterans' Day, Breakfast with Santa, Angels of the World Concert benefiting disabled adults and morning announcements. Also, we have sung The Star Spangled Banner for high school soccer games in addition to full concerts that we have performed at IES. Students from this group are selected to participate in county, district and state honor choruses.
