Mission and Vision

Mission:
The mission of Ithica Elementary School is to inspire every student by providing a foundation for continual success.

Vision:
Students are passionate about learning which inspires their success.

Beliefs:

  • All children can be inspired to learn through quality instruction.
  • Students, staff and families share the responsibility for being actively engaged in teaching and learning.
  • Clearly stated, high expectations lead to success.
  • Emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual needs must be met to provide a safe, positive learning environment.

Ithica Elementary received a BRONZE award for high performance on state assessments under the Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS).

Under SSAS, the Governor's Office of Student Achievement awards schools that show excellence in student achievement and/or progress in student achievement. Award-winning schools must meet the following criteria, which are based on the results of the most recent two years of Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) (grades 3-8 in reading, English/language arts, math, social studies, and science) and/or the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) (grade 11 first time test takers - English/language arts, math, science, and social studies). Criteria are based on Full Academic Year (FAY) students. Both the CRCT and the GHSGT classify achievement in terms of the percent of students who a) do not meet standards, b) meet standards, and c) exceed standards.

Testing
(GKIDS) Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Kids
(CRCT) Criterion - Referenced Compentency Tests Grades 1-5
(Writing) Georgia Writing Assessments 3 &5

Ithica Elementary School's Super 16 for Success
  • When responding to an adult, it is polite to answer with "yes ma'am," "no ma'am," "yes sir," or "no sir."
  • Remember to say "please" and "thank you" when appropriate.
  • If you bump into someone, or if they bump into you, politely say "excuse me", even if it's not your fault.
  • If someone in the class or school does something well, we clap and congratulate that person.
  • No matter what the circumstances, always be honest.
  • Never cut in line
  • Perform random acts of kindness.  Go out of your way to do something surprisingly kind and generous for someone at least once a month.
  • Make every effort to be as organized as possible
  • Accept that you are going to make mistakes.  LEarn from them and move on.
  • When you cough, sneeze, or burp, it is appropriate to turn your head away from others and cover your mouth.  Afterward you should say "excuse me."
  • Clean-up after yourself in the hallway, classroom, lunchroom, and restroom.  This school belongs to all of us.  Let's keep it looking great.
  • Stand up for what you believe in.
  • Be positive and enjoy life.  Some things just aren't worth getting upset over.  Keep everything in perspective and focus on the good in life.
  • Be the best person you can be.
  • Be respectful, look at the person that is talking and always treat others the way you want to be treated.
  • Carpe Diem (SEIZE THE DAY): You only live today once, so don't waste it.
