The Nutcracker Performance

In December the IES Chorus, cast, and dancers present The Nutcracker under the direction of Marcella Correa, music teacher at IES.  The production is choreographed by Vicki Parker, IES P.E teacher.  The story is narrated by Cecelia Brown, assistant principal with the chorus presenting the story through drama, singing, and many styles of dance.  Many faculty members and students dance in the opening party scene followed by a battle of the Soldiers and Mice.  Their journey to the Kingdom of Sweets is led by the Sugar Plum Fairy and Snowflakes.  The Nutcracker and Marie are entertained by dances from many countries including the Russian Bakers, Candy Cane flutes, Arabian Ribbon  Dancers,  Chinese Tea Dancers, Mother Ginger and her lively Elf Clowns, and the beautiful Flower Ballerinas.  The smiles and giggles of the students throughout the show are contagious.  It is always a magical evening for all who come out to see this outstanding perfromance.
